چکیده

Quantum spin chains arising as the 1-dimensional quantum version of classical 2-dimensional statistical mechanical models exhibit the same Hilbert spaces as those arising by iterating correspondences in the sense of Connes. This will be explained and the highly speculative possibility of a continuum limit conformal field theory proposed.

Factors generated by C-finitely correlated states

We present several equivalent conditions for C-finitely correlated states defined on the UHF algebras to be factor states and consider the types of factors generated by them. Subfactors generated by generalized quantum Markov chains defined on the gauge-invariant parts of the UHF algebras are also discussed.

Subfactors Associated to Compact Kac Algebras

We construct inclusions of the form (B0 ⊗ P ) G ⊂ (B1 ⊗ P ) , where G is a compact quantum group of Kac type acting on an inclusion of finite dimensional C-algebras B0 ⊂ B1 and on a II1 factor P . Under suitable assumptions on the actions of G, this is a subfactor, whose Jones tower and standard invariant can be computed by using techniques of A. Wassermann. The subfactors associated to subgrou...

Quantum Groups Acting on N Points, Complex Hadamard Matrices, and a Construction of Subfactors

We define subfactors of the form (B0 ⊗ P ) G ⊂ (B1 ⊗ P ) , where G is a compact quantum group acting on a Markov inclusion of finite dimensional algebras B0 ⊂ B1 and acting minimally on a II1 factor P . Their Jones towers and their higher relative commutants can be computed by using extensions of Wassermann’s techniques. These subfactors generalise the group-subgroup subfactors, the diagonal su...

Hopf Algebras and Biunitary Matrices

Actually to any spin model one can associate a vertex model (this is clear from V. Jones’ initial interpretation – in terms of statistical mechanics – of these objects) and the construction of Hopf algebras from complex Hadamard matrices is a particular case of the construction of Hopf algebras from biunitary matrices. The construction of Hopf algebras from biunitary matrices is a particular ca...

Hopf ∗-algebras Associated to Biunitary Matrices

Actually to any spin model one can associate a vertex model (this is clear from V. Jones’ initial interpretation – in terms of statistical mechanics – of these objects) and the construction of Hopf algebras from complex Hadamard matrices is a particular case of the construction of Hopf algebras from biunitary matrices. This is done in section 5 in [3]. The construction of Hopf algebras from biu...
